The first save will cost you one gem, the next, two, the third, four gems, and so on. Gems are a welcome addition, letting you save yourself and extending the single play, though it can get costly. Within seconds, I was swiping away - up, down, left, right - and tilting to collect coins. I had no learning curve after downloading and opening the new game to my iPhone 4S. There is definite comfort in familiarity. If you're like me, you'll stick with just one, porting over the abilities you've purchased, as needed. I guess it makes sense to let you retain what you've purchased, but it essentially homogenizes your seven protagonists. But then, the developers went and gave you the ability to shift those power-ups among your unlocked characters. Each character comes with a unique power-up. ![]() ![]() I had high hopes that the differences between the characters in Temple Run II would be more than cosmetic, as they were in the original, and at first, I wasn't disappointed. The new game adds zip lines and ore carts, Again, as you collect enough coins, you unlock new characters for purchase and can play as them. ![]() The game's graphics are sharper, rounder and much brighter than the original gloomy, foggy temple setting. Temple Run II is more of the same, though the game starts with your intrepid explorer, Guy Dangerous, being chased by a single, super-sized gorilla.
